Civil War Gen. Nathaniel P Banks Autograph Etching
This is a an etching portrait of Union General Nathaniel P. Banks (1816-1894). This etching portrait is in 10.125" x 14.5" glass frame and is marked below image "Engraved by H. Wright Smith from Photograph". The etching has etched sigature. Below is matted clipped signature is dated Nov. 29th 1878. Banks was Governor of Massachusetts before the war and Speaker of the House afterwards. This framing was well done there are other autographs from this same source. There is some age yellowing under the glass yet everything looks stable in terms of preservation. This another fine piece of Civil War and US history.
