Rare Hand Drawn Fireman's Handtub Tin Toy
Francis, Field & Francis. Philadelphia, Pa. - 1850's - 9 1/2" Long. As villages throughout America grew in size and population, more sophisticated means of fire vehicles were needed to answer the urgent call of response to fire. Children soon grew to adore the miniature toy versions of the fire vehicles they saw daily in the streets. Today, American tin toys depicting fire apparatus are valued as some of the most significant early American toys ever created, especially ones from this antebellum vintage.
