Sokolov Alexander Ivanovich (1918-1973)

Artist, painter and teacher. Honored Artist of the RSFSR, member of the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR. Studied with Veniamin Belkin, Mikhail Bernstein, Pavel Naumov, Andrey Mylnikov. Since 1950 Alexander Sokolov has participated in exhibitions. He painted genre and thematic paintings, historical and revolutionary compositions, portraits, landscapes. In 1969-1973 Alexander Ivanovich headed the painting section of the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR. A. Sokolov's works are in art museums and private collections in Russia, the USA, Great Britain, France and other countries.
