Venetian Master of the 16th - 17th century - The Last Communion of Saint Jerome, oil on copper measuring 68 x 57 cm framed
Oil on copper by a Venetian or Roman master of the 16th-17th century. Dimensions: 68 x 57 cm (framed). The oil on copper technique, very popular during the Renaissance and Baroque, allowed for extreme precision in detail and greater durability. The composition shows a religious subject in a classical architectural setting, reflecting the influence of late mannerism and the combination of realism and theatricality typical of the Roman school. This work, with its chromatic richness and meticulous execution, is a representative example of metal painting of the period.
