ORIGINAL PRE-1945 KINDERLANDVERSCHICKUNG / KLV POSTER
Excellent pre-war 23-1/4 x 32-1/2 inch or 590x825mm poster advertising for the Kinderlandverschickung (KLV). Before the Second World War, the term Kinderlandverschickung (KLV) was used exclusively for the recreational deportation of children, sending city children to the countryside. Today, this keyword is also used to refer to the extended deportation of children, in which schoolchildren and mothers with small children from German cities threatened by the air war were accommodated in less endangered areas for a longer period of time from October 1940 onwards. By the end of the war, the “Reichsdienststelle KLV” evacuated a total of probably more than 2,000,000 children, probably caring for 850,000 pupils between the ages of 10 and 14, but also older pupils in KLV camps. The poster was published by the Reichsjugendführung (Reich Youth Leadership). One small tear on the left side that won’t show once framed, otherwise excellent condition.
